Roughly 200 Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen spent September 17-20 training at the North Metro Fire Training Center in Thornton, Colo., in preparation for a National Guard Bureau evaluation, or ExEval. The unit is called a CERFP team which stands for C=CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosives) Enhanced Response Force Package and must be evaluated every couple of years by NGB to ensure that they are meeting standards and are prepared to support incidents within Colorado or anywhere within the U.S. The Colorado teams are comprised of members from the 140th Wing from Buckley AFB, the 233d Space Group from Greeley, the 147th Brigade Battalion from Ft. Collins and the 3650th Maintenance Company from Longmont. Each team provides the necessary functionality to assist local authorities in extraction, communication, decontamination and medical assistance so that victims can be safely removed from a disaster and cared for appropriately.(U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Master Sgt.
