MSgt Hiles teaches chemistry

Mr. Bart Blumberg, science teacher at Rock Canyon High School and Traditional Guardsmen with the Colorado Air National Guard, demonstrates how the equipment used by the Emergency Management team is based on the principles the high school students are learning about in chemistry class. Since the science department just learned about light and nuclear chemistry, Master Sgt. Jared Hiles, emergency manager, 140th Wing, brought in some chemical detection equipment that uses infrared spectroscopy and some radiation detectors to reinforce those lessons in Blumberg’s classes Sept. 23.
