U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Paul Shingledecker, Commander, 140th Medical Group, Buckley Air Force Base, play-acts an optometrist as a way to tell the rest of his team about the challenges of living in Ko’olau Loa, March 14, 2010. Shingledecker and his more than 60 Colordao Air National Guardsmen attended a cultural familiarization briefing at the Kahuku Medical Center in preparation for their work on the island of Oahu as a part of E Malama Kakou (translated from Hawaiian as “to care for all”) a humanitarian program providing services to the medically under-served within the State of Hawaii.
