Buckley AFB, Colo. -- 140th Wingmen,
As we approach the long holiday weekend, I want to take a moment to reflect a little on this past year. We all know it's been a difficult year for us as a Wing as well as the for the citizens of Colorado. Between Sequestration, furloughs, Falcon Air Meet, fires, floods and more furloughs, we have asked more from you than ever before. I am so thankful that as a Wing, we have been able to step up and respond to the needs of our state and nation, and continue to do our best everyday despite the fiscal challenges our country is facing. We have overcome one hurdle after another and still have so much to be thankful for.
I also want you to know how thankful I am to be a member of the 140th Wing; the best Wing in the Air National Guard. I couldn't ask for a finer group of men and women to accomplish our mission and I am grateful every day that we're on the same team. Having said that, what we can't afford is to lose a member of our team. As you travel to Thanksgiving dinner and various holiday parties, be sure to have a plan to get home safely. This is the season for relaxing, having fun, and enjoying company, but no amount of fun is worth getting a DUI or worse....losing your life or causing someone else to lose theirs. If you are in a bind, please call the command post (x9955) and we will make sure to get you home safely, no questions asked.
I hope that each of you takes time this week to enjoy your friends and family, eat some good food, and spend a little time thinking about how much we have to be thankful for. You will all be included in my thoughts.
