140th Wing Commander thanks deployed members Published July 2, 2009 By Brig. Gen. Trulan A. Eyre 140th Wing Commander Buckley AFB, Colo. -- First, I want to say how proud we are of you all and thankful for your service. I hope this finds all of you safe, healthy, and knowing how proud your Wing back here is of you and what you are doing. Last night I went to a dedication of a new Memorial honoring veterans in Highlands Ranch. The host/MC was Steffan Tubbs from 850 KOA's morning radio show. Steffan is a huge supporter of the military and especially the Colorado National Guard. This morning he emailed me and thanked me for being there, so I emailed him back and asked him to do a "shoutout" on the air for all the 140th Wing members deployed over this Independence Day Holiday. He did and I wanted to pass that along to you, as all of Denver and the Front Range heard of your selfless service this morning. Anyway, as our nation celebrates its 233rd birthday this weekend, it's worth remembering that the red in our flag represents the sacrifice that so many have bled over the years in the defense of the most freedom loving, greatest nation in the world. The peace we know here as we celebrate these next few days over barbeques, ball games and home town celebrations is only possible because of sacrifices like you all are making in our defense. So please, add our names as your Wingman to those around the nation who pause on the 4th to say thank-you to our service men and women around the world working in the name of liberty and keeping the hopes of freedom alive. To all of you, thank-you, we look forward to your safe return, and Happy Birthday to the United States of America...may she live forever!
