BUCKLEY AFB, Colo. --
The men and women of the 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard, are once again gearing up for a few days of increased activity as they conduct another Operational Readiness Exercise in preparation for their inspection this spring.
Wing personnel will conduct 24-hour training simulating operations in a combat environment, meaning the local community can anticipate an increase in activity and noise level over the next few days.
"This is our final full-up dress rehearsal before our big inspection in May," said Brig. Gen. Trulan Eyre, commander, 140th Wing. "We are periodically inspected to verify to the US Air Force that we are fully capable of deploying overseas for our federal mission in support of our nation's defense," he said.
This Operational Readiness Exercise is scheduled for March 8-11, and will include frequent sounding of alarms and sirens and increased flying operations, including jets taking off and/or landing as early as 6:45 a.m. and as late as 1:15 a.m.
The community's patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as the 140th Wing works hard to prepare for success on the ORI and perfects the mission-essential functions carried out every day in support of national security.
