Pres. Truman and AF Birthday

In 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act which established the new defense organization, and along with it the creation of the US Air Force as an independent service, equal to the US Army and US Navy. "I remind all of our citizens that the air power of the nation is essential to the preservation of our liberty, and that the continued development of the science of air transportation is vital to the trade and commerce of a peaceful world." ~ Harry S.
