Col Janay A. Lake is the Commander of the 233d Space Group, Greeley Air National Guard Station, Greeley, Colorado. Col Lake is responsible for leading the timely stand up of multiple new federal missions while continuously ensuring the warfighting readiness, development and career progression of the Airmen in the Colorado Air National Guard. Additionally, she ensures Colorado’s Domestic Operations missions are successful, providing always ready Airmen when called to support the local community.
Col Lake received her commission from Officer Training School, Maxwell AFB, AL in 2003 and began her career as a Logistics Officer at Kirtland AFB, NM. She joined the Colorado Air National Guard in 2007 and earned the Space Operations Officer qualification. Col Lake was assigned to the Air National Guard Readiness Center, Joint Base Andrews, MD in 2017, where she gained staff experience as the Cyber Warfare Training Branch Chief, ANG Strategic Basing Officer and Strategic Plans and Integration Branch Chief. She was selected as the Deputy Air National Guard Advisor to the Commander, Space Operations Command and subsequently served as the Commander of the 137th Space Warning Squadron, Greeley ANGS, CO. Prior to her current assignment, Col Lake was the Air National Guard Advisor the Commander of the United States Strategic Command.
