Colonel AMANDA K. HILL

Colonel Amanda K. Hill is the 140th Deputy Wing Commander, Colorado Air National Guard, Buckley SFB, Aurora, Colorado. Col Hill assists with the effective management of over 1600 personnel supporting an F-16C+ fighter mission (Air Combat Command).  She assures adequate training of assigned military personnel and high-quality aircraft maintenance through timely phased assessments. In addition, Col Hill is responsible for the successful completion of all wing inspections and establishing base policies to assure effective personnel, equipment, funding, supply, procurement, and facility management.

Col Hill entered the Air Force upon graduation from the University of Northern Colorado in August 2004 and earned her commission through Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 90.  She proceeded to active duty through the Nurse Transition Program at Eglin AFB. Her follow-on assignment was at Lackland AFB where she was a clinical nurse at Wilford Hall Medical Center. She was deployed twice in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, to Balad Air Base, Iraq where she worked in the intensive care ward and emergency department. She relocated in October 2008 to the 460th Medical Group (MDG), Buckley SFB, CO, where she was awarded the Air Force Space Command Outstanding Ambulatory Care Nurse of the Year award in 2009 and went on to become the family practice flight commander before separating from active duty in February 2012.

Col Hill transitioned to the COANG, 140th MDG in February 2012, where she served in the roles of chief nurse, Physical Health Assessment flight commander, Medical Support Services squadron commander and Medical Group Commander. She supported manning assists, to include the 460 MDG, Buckley SFB, CO and the 52 MDG, Spangdahlem AFB, Germany; humanitarian missions to include Hurricane Harvey, Houston, TX, Tropic Care, Maui, HI and commanded the 400+ multi-service Greater Chenango Cares/Healthy Cortland Innovative Readiness Training in upstate New York. She was awarded the 2019 AFMS Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year. During her time as Medical Group Commander she oversaw COVID19 operations within the CONG and State, planning, distributing and vaccinating thousands and providing seventy percent of her personnel to COVID19 operations. She also invigorated the Medical line of efforts with the State Partnership Programs in Slovenia and Jordan, collaborating with both countries with over 30 engagements on knowledge exchanges, medical exercises, trauma systems, Role I and II medical facilities and the CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP). In July 2023 Col Hill became the Joint Resiliency (J9) Director for the CONG.  She advised The Adjutant General (TAG) and provided guidance, leadership, management and oversight of service member, family, contractor and employee programs, policies and plans of both Army and Air National Guard resources providing a “one stop for all things people” to over 7000 Colorado guardsman, employees and their families.
