Chief Master Sergeant ANTHONY T. COOK

Chief Master Sergeant Anthony T. Cook is the State Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Colorado Air National Guard, Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, Colorado. He represents the highest level of Air enlisted leadership and is the principle advisor to the Commander of the Colorado Air National Guard. Chief Cook also monitors compliance with Air National Guard and Air Force standards including those standards governing conduct, performance, appearance, and professional military education. He is responsible for matters influencing the health, morale, welfare and professional development of more than 1,500 Colorado Air National Guard members. He is the main liaison between the Assistant Adjutant General for Air and the enlisted force on any concerns of the enlisted force. Chief Cook performs additional duties as outlined and directed by the Assistant Adjutant General for Air.

Entering the Air Force in 1981, Chief Cook served as an Avionics Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist, supporting the F-4 Phantom aircraft. He completed overseas tours in the Republic of the Philippines and South Korea. In 1985, Chief Cook cross-trained as an F-16 Avionics Intermediate Shop (AIS) specialist, and served in this capacity until the end of his active duty tour in September 1992.

After a 12-year break in service, CMSgt Cook joined the Colorado Air National Guard as an F-16 AIS specialist on September 11, 2004.  His primary responsibilities included troubleshooting and repairing F-16 avionics in support of the 140th Wing flying operations.  While assigned to AIS, CMSgt Cook has deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom.  He further supported the Wing by volunteering for several stateside and overseas assignments. 

In December 2009, CMSgt Cook was selected as the 140th Medical Group First Sergeant.  CMSgt Cook volunteered to serve an active duty tour in support of Colorado’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP) mission, from February 2012 through September 2013, while still serving as a First Sergeant.

In June 2016, CMSgt Cook was assigned as the Group Superintendent of the 140th Medical Group.  In this role, he also served as the 140 Medical Group Detachment 1 Superintendent.  His leadership contributed to the success of the Detachment 1, 2016 Exercise Evaluation. In May, 2017, Chief Cook was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Joint Staff, Colorado Air National Guard, Centennial, Colorado.  In this capacity, he advised the Director of Joint Staff on the readiness of the unit’s Soldiers and Airmen and served as a role model for the enlisted force.
