COLONEL FREDERICK M. BROOKS

Colonel Fred Brooks is the Commander of the 240th Civil Engineer Flight, 140th Wing, Buckley Garrison, Colorado.  As the Commander, he is responsible for the training, equipping, and mobilization of three 12-man deployable engineer teams comprised of command and control, engineering, engineer assistants and enlisted support.

 

Colonel Brooks enlisted in the Navy in 1992 and upon graduation served three and a half years active duty. Once separated, Colonel Brooks joined the South Dakota Air National Guard and attended South Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.  Colonel Brooks accepted a private sector engineer position in Minnesota where he continued his service through the Minnesota Air National Guard, and ultimately obtained his commission from the Academy of Military Science in 2004 – where he was distinguished as “Honor Graduate”.  In 2005, he transferred to the 302d Civil Engineer Squadron at Peterson Garrison, Colorado, and served as their engineering officer.  Colonel Brooks also began his civil service career in 2005 and currently serves as the Air Force Regional Environmental Coordinator for a ten-state Midwest region.  In 2009, Colonel Brooks joined the 240th Civil Engineer Flight where he has served in multiple leadership roles.  He has deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the State of Colorado in times of natural disasters, to Puerto Rico in disaster relief support of Hurricane Maria, to Pacific Air Force in numerous engineering and command staff roles, and as an Air Force Community Partnership Broker for Secretary of the Air Force, Instillations, Environment, and Energy.

Colonel Brooks has one daughter, Chloe, and his significant other is Ms. Monica Tyler.
