U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Darrell Linkus,140th Explosive Ordinance Disposal specialist, is promoted to Senior Airman March 9, 2014 at Airburst Range, Fort Carson, Colo. In honor of his promotion, a "holloywood shot" was conducted in which a small amount of explosives creates a large fire display. EOD specialists regularly employ tools like C4 and robots, as well as classified techniques to dispose of explosives, whether they are decommissioned missiles on base or roadside bombs in the field. The 233 SG has transported supplies throughout Colorado in support of the health fair for several years as part of the Innovative Readiness Training program, which benefits the community and provides mandatory training for members of the group who must be qualified to drive semi trucks as part of their military mission. Richard Gibbons and Senior Airman Darrell Linkus, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operators from the 140th Civil Engineer Flight, 140th Wing, post at the doors of the 1st Bank/Broomfield Event Center during a funeral service February 3, 2014, for Sgt. Dave Baldwin, Jefferson County Sheriff Officer, who was killed in the line of duty. The 140 EOD team was requested by the family to be present at the funeral because Baldwin was a former EOD Operator prior to joining the Jefferson County law enforcement team.
