Transfer Post-9/11 GI Bill to Spouse and Dependents

The transferability option under the Post-9/11 GI Bill allows Service members to transfer all or some unused benefits to their spouse or dependent children.  If you're eligible, you may transfer benefits to the following individuals:
·Your spouse
·One or more of your children
·Any combination of spouse and child

Please contact your retention office for details on how to transfer the benefit.  MSgt Christopherson is located at Buckley AFB, in Bldg 801, Rm N-240 and can be reached at 720-847-9606 and MSgt Phegley is located at Greeley ANG, Bldg 100, Rm 117 and can be reached at 970-378-5010.

VA Home Loans Centers
VA Home Loan Centers is a Department of Veterans Affairs sponsored organization working with active duty service members and veterans in an effort to assist our nation's heroes in securing affordable housing. VAHLC specializes in home loans, short sale assistance, and real estate representation between buyers and sellers.  We provide first-time home buyers with free agent representation, as well as $0 down and no closing costs. Military members facing a foreclosure or short sale in need of assistance are provided our services at no charge. VAHLC encourages financial literacy; our representatives are here to assist military members.  Contact us at 888-573-4496 with questions about VA loan eligibility, VA Home Loan Limits and any other questions about the VA loan program.

2014 Military Adventure Camps
Would your kids like to spend time whitewater rafting, hiking, rock climbing, winter camping, backpacking, mountain biking, exploring the environment, running ropes courses, or practicing wilderness skills?
Military teens (14-18 years old) will have an opportunity to participate in adventure camps scheduled May 2014 through April 2015 at little to no cost. These high energy, high adventure, and high experience camps are planned across the United States.

Help Guardsmen this holiday season!
Do you like to spread holiday cheer?  If yes, consider  assisting your fellow Guard Families!  This year our Family Programs Organization is partnering with the Colorado National Guard Foundation to assist all of our Guard families in need.  The attached flyer will give you options to participate in donating, meal cards for those needing a holiday dinner, or as grand as adopting an entire family, assisting them with gifts and groceries.

This is a three session class taught by a Registered Nurse that provides information for expectant parents in their third trimester.  These classes are geared toward first time parents, but seasoned parents will find these classes helpful as a refresher. Offered on 14, 21 and 28 Oct from 1730-1900 at the HAWC.

Do you have questions when it comes to raising children? This workshop addresses those parenting issues using Love and Logic techniques.  We can assist you in making early childhood parenting fun, creating a happy family and raising responsible kids.  It focuses on allowing your child to make behavioral choices while teaching them to be responsible and respectful.  Real world examples brought up by parents lead to lively discussions.  Parents who have children below 9 years of age will benefit immensely.  This six session seminar is scheduled from 20 Oct to 24 Nov 2014 (every Monday) from 1300-1500 at the HAWC.

How to Meet an AF Board
Who: Open to everyone
When: Thursday, 30 October from 1200-1300

Why: The focus of this course is on the preparation to meet the board and covering the do's and don'ts. The facilitator will also explain the entire "meeting the board" process from knocking on the door and entering all the way to closing the door on your way out of the room.

Why: Sweaty Palms? Lump in your throat? Feeling faint? Don't worry; this 1-hour seminar will give you the basics to overcome the fear of speaking in public.

Performance Feedback

When: Tuesday, November 18 from 1200-1300
Where: Bldg 30/FTAC Classroom
Why: This course will cover all of the details on performance feedback. The instructor will review what the responsibilities are for the rater and the rate. It will also provide guidance on how to clearly set expectations.

Bullet Writing for Supervisors
Open to everyone
When: Tuesday, 25 November from 1200-1300
Where: Bldg 30/FTAC Classroom
Why: Do you have writers block when it comes to writing bullets? This class will teach you how to take that pile of information and sharpen it into a bullet that even your Chief would approve of! The skills of bullet writing will be taught and then put to practice in some writing exercises.

Volunteers needed for Veteran Salute
Approximately 15-20 people are needed for set up on Tuesday, November 4 from 8:00-12:00. There are a number of other volunteer assignments in addition to set up including working with the JR AFROTC cadets to serve the meal at the event. Follow the same link above to see all of the volunteer opportunities.

Women Veterans of Colorado is looking for female volunteers to help support the 24th Annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down on Thursday, 6 Nov. They are the only 501 c 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to serving women veterans in Colorado. They're looking for at least 6 people to work the following 2 hour shifts:
(you can sign up for a shift longer than 2 hours as well)
