This is a month of events scheduled to bring the CONG guard together as a team and enhance the awareness of the issue of sexual assault in the Colorado National Guard and the Military as a whole. Throughout the month you will be hearing from Senior Leaders on their efforts to eliminate sexual assault within our organizations. Your participation underscores the commands "Zero Tolerance" and enhances the fight against this crime. 

April is the Month of the Military Child and Child Abuse Prevention

2014 Military Youth Essay Contest
Local military kids will have a chance to win an Xbox One and statewide recognition for submitting their stories sharing what it's like to be part of a military family. Submissions due by May 2. See link above for details!

140th Wing Climate Survey
Teamwork and collaboration go hand-in-hand. With that said, the 140th Wing Command Climate Survey (Our Survey!) is underway. As the collective 140th Wing Team, Col Dunstan is soliciting your participation in the Wing Survey to hear your feedback.
 
Aspen Retreat for Veterans and Service Members
Join us for 5 days in Aspen, Colorado for a Power Breath Workshop with Project Welcome Home Troops and an outdoor camp with C.A.M.O. (Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities).

Child Care on Drill Weekends
The Home Community Care program was established to provide in-home child care for military families...to include DRILL WEEKENDS!  Contact Ms. Lorrie Heller, Family Child Care Coordinator, (720) 847-9225/7215 to see if you qualify and what the space availability is.
 
Camp Corral - FREE for Military Kids
Registration is now OPEN for Camp Corral 2014.
These *free* camps are designed specifically for military children ages 8-15. Priority is given to children of fallen, wounded and disabled veterans, but the camps are open to ALL military children. Please register and sign up! There are two local camps being held at Camp Shady Brook, Sedalia, CO in June and July.

2014 Military Adventure Camps
Would your kids like to spend time whitewater rafting, hiking, rock climbing, winter camping, backpacking, mountain biking, exploring the environment, running ropes courses, or practicing wilderness skills?
Military teens (14-18 years old) will have an opportunity to participate in adventure camps scheduled May 2014 through April 2015 at little to no cost. These high energy, high adventure, and high experience camps are planned across the United States.

Want to run the Lincoln Marathon?
The Lincoln Marathon is on Sunday, May 4th, and is the National Guard Marathon Team Qualifier. Typically, about four runners are funded by the Guard to run the Lincoln Marathon. Being funded means that you would be on orders from Friday to Monday and have your travel funded. Those interested need to contact Army First Sergeant Dave Baker at debaker@comcast.net, and start training now!

"Women Warriors: A Vision of Valor" Film Premier
What:
Students from Front Range Community College reached out to Colorado veterans to interview as part of a Library of Congress Veterans History Project film documenting the evolving role of women in war. The film follows the stories of 10 women veterans from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, the Iraq War and Afghanistan War and compares their experiences and how they supported combat operations.

VFW Scholarships for E-5 and below
Up to $5,000 will be awarded to qualified applicants. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2014. Scholarships will be awarded for spring 2014 semester beginning January 2014 and for fall 2014 semester beginning July 2014.

The Air Force Spouse Scholarship program is designed to encourage Air Force Spouses worldwide to pursue an associate/bachelor or graduate/postgraduate degree.
