Colonel CARRIE A. WORRELL

Colonel Carrie A. Worrell is the 140th Deputy Wing Commander, Colorado Air National Guard, Buckley SFB, Aurora, Colorado. Col Worrell assists with the effective management of over 1600 personnel supporting an F-16C+ fighter mission (Air Combat Command), a unique Mobile Ground System missile warning mission (Air Force Space Command), and a Civil Engineering mission (Pacific Air Forces). She assures adequate training of assigned military personnel and high-quality aircraft maintenance through timely phased assessments. In addition, Colonel Worrell is responsible for the successful completion of all wing inspections. She also establishes base policies to assure effective personnel, equipment, funding, supply, procurement, and facility management.

Col Worrell entered the Air Force upon graduation from the Air Force Academy in May 1997. Her first assignment on active duty was at Vandenberg Air Force Base where she served as a Hospital Administrator and Director of Information Systems. In 1998, she became the Deputy Chief Information Officer at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, Maryland. In 2002, she was assigned to the Tricare Management Activity as the Director, Purchased Care System. Upon completion of her active duty tour in 2006, Col Worrell became an Individual Mobilization Augmentee in the United States Air Force Reserves to the 460th Medical Group on Buckley Air Force Base. From there she transitioned to the 310th Aerospace Medicine Flight as the Medical Readiness Officer. She then left the Reserves in 2012 and joined the Colorado Air National Guard, where she serves today. Her initial role in the COANG was lead Hospital Administrator and Medical Support Squadron Commander for the 140th Medical Group as a traditional Guardsman and a GS-15 for the Department of Labor. In 2018, she was then asked to join the COANG on a full-time basis as the Group Commander/Medical Administrator for the 140th Medical Group. From there, she was selected as the 140th Mission Support Group Commander where she led 417 personnel in providing all personnel, communications, civil engineering, logistics, contracting and flight line security operations in support of the 140th Wing’s mission and 1600+ members. After leaving Command, she was hand-selected by The Adjutant General to stand up the Colorado National Guard’s (CONG) first ever Joint Resiliency Directorate (J9), Joint Forces Headquarters, Centennial, Colorado. For the first time in CONG history, the J9 provided one stop for Colorado National Guard members, civilians, and their families (approx. 8500+ personnel) to access prevention, response, and readiness services from one location.
